With "Zwischendrin" a reportage on intersexed people published in NEON magazine this february, Ann-Kathrin Eckardt (text) and me (photos) have won the pro familia journalism award "Sexualität(en)" in the print category. yeah!

Since I am back from Uganda, I am busy working on new stories from Africa and I hope to be able to put up some photos in a short while.

I am still enjoying my stay in Uganda!
Anyhow I will be back in Germany on 9th of July and attend the opening of the imagetrust exhibition "Mächtige Köpfe" which opens at Festung Ehrenbreitstein in Koblenz, Germany. I will be exposing portraits from Belarus and Estonia.
The exhibition is a cooperation of my agency image|trust, Generaldirektion Kulturelles Erbe Rheinland Pfalz and Direktion Landesmuseum Koblenz and will run until August 7th 2011.

I am happy to anounce that i have been selected with other 26 upcoming & female artists for the exhibition LLL - Lieben Leben Leiden in Kunstverein Celle e.V. in June 2010. I will be presenting my work on plastic surgery in Brasil.
„Die fünfmonatige Ausschreibung zu dem Ausstellungsprojekt „Leben Lieben Leiden“ - Frauenbilder junger Künstlerinnen, die an allen Kunsthochschulen Deutschlands, durch mehrere renommierte Kunstzeitschriften und vielfältige Wege des Internets publiziert wurde, endete am 15. Juli 2009. Es galt, sich über ca. 170 Bewerbungen mit rund 370 Werken aus ganz Europa einen Überblick zu verschaffen. Ein hierfür erstellter Kriterienkatalog mit festgelegten Qualitätsmerkmalen sicherte ein transparentes und faires Verfahren, so dass die Wahl schließlich auf die folgenden 28 Künstlerinnen fiel: ( ...)
Anknüpfend an die für 2010 geplante historische Großausstellung des Residenzmuseums im Celler Schloss „Mächtig verlockend – Frauen der Welfen“ entsteht das zeitgenössische Ausstellungsprojekt des Kunstvereins Celle, das vom 4. Juni bis 4. August 2010 im Untergeschoss des Bomann-Museums und im Celler Schlosspark zu sehen sein werden.
Der Kunstverein Celle wird eine junge Generation Künstlerinnen zeigen, die die damalige und heutige „Weiblichkeit“ als Sujet oder gesellschaftliches Modell in Frage stellen und bearbeiten. Es soll in der Zusammenführung der weiblich-künstlerischen Positionen nicht der Frage nachgegangen werden, ob es eine „weibliche Ästhetik“ gibt, sondern vielmehr, worin das Problem liegt, wenn „Weiblichkeit“ zur Kategorie erklärt wird. Es geht also vielmehr darum, unterschiedliche und künstlerisch vielfältige Positionen zur Thematik aufzuzeigen, die deutlich machen sollen, dass es „ein einzelnes, kategorisches Frauenbild“ nicht gibt.
